Task Panel customisation not working.
Published on June 16, 2007 By rookieinfotech In SkinStudio
I am user of Stardock Skinstudio 4.5 .On creating a new WindowBlinds UIS2 skin,I modified the task panel appearance and the skin preview is showing exactly the same design I want.(I applied gradient as background and gave images for arrows and bars in the task panel.)
But on applying the skin,I get Windows Classic type-task panel on the explorer windows. It appeared in the correct way(like my design) for only one time.I don't know how it worked then. After a reboot,it was again back to the classic-task panel style.Since then, I tried out many options. But it didn't work.

Note: I am getting the modified(my design) arrows(up,down and their hover images)only at the classic-type task panel.

Hope someone has the solution.

all skins or just yours?(check wb config to see if you have task pane skinning set to classsic)

And in SKS check 'no image defined'...should be disabled

If you are modifying a skin that has it's task pane skinned via a .uifile then you wont be able to modify it via SKS, only by modifying the .uifule will you be able to make changes to the Shellstyle. If you want to post your skin by way of something like Sendpace.com, I'm sure one of us would be happy to help you out with this.

I have this problem for only the skin made by me.It didn't had the 'UIfile' defined for shellstyle. After trying many options, I assigned shellstyle1 and shellstyle2 '.uifile's to my skins and changed the background gradient by editing it.Now I have the customised bars, arrows and background gradient. But no customised text colours.Could anyone please help to customise the text colours in the task panel? If it is to be done by editing UIfile, please explain(I am a beginner in skinning).

Looking forward for your response.

As i said, I have the customised bars, arrows and background gradient in the task panel of all explorer windows except the 'Search' window. How can I add the background design in the task panel to the 'Search' window to make it look like the rest?

Please give me a solution.

there is, as you know, LOTS of code in a .uifile, best thing to do is to color-pick the existing text, then search the code for it > Replace with new RGB colors.. Shellstyle work more often than not, at least for me is more trial and error than anything.
